Proposals Requested From Around The World



The AWBC conference begins August 26th, 2006 but we are currently scheduling workshops, speakers and volunteers. We are always accepting proposals.




    We invite you to submit proposals for consideration on any subject that will be of interest to those who will attend the 2006 A World Beyond Capitalism conference. We also invite you to submit proposals for fundraising events for the 2006 A World Beyond Capitalism conference.

    Please submit proposals for workshops and presentations in the below format.

    Proposal format (for workshops and presentations held at the Conference Campgrounds on August 26th, 27th and/or 28th, 2006):

    Brief description of the topic (in no more than two sentences):


    1. Your Name or name of first presenter:
    2. Other participants (if applicable):
    3. What language will you make the presentation in?
    4. Will your presentation or performance have multilingual access or would you like to be provided with a translator?
    5. Organizations or Group: (if applicable)

    14. As an international, multiracial alliance building peace conference we encourage shared presentations. Are you open to having other speakers or participants share time during your presentation?

    17. Choose the time and day that you will present one or more workshops or presentations

    Please choose one or more workshop sessions (time slots) when you would like to present one or more of your workshops. You will receive the exact time slot sessions that you choose and you can change it at anytime, and as many times as like. If you want a longer course, simply choose more than one workshop session.

    All workshops are held at the Conference campgrounds (exact location of the campgrounds will appear on this website in the future). The only exception is that the AWBC 2006 Keynote Speakers will speak during Session #4 which will be followed by dinner, festivals, bands and musicians!

    [No Workshops. This session is for the International Network of Ideas: Upbeat five-minute announcements by conference participants about current projects, ideas, upcoming events or other opportunities for solidarity.] Session #1,Saturday, August 26th, 2006 - 10am - 11:30am.

    Workshop Session #2, Saturday, August 26th, 2006 - 11:45am - 1pm.

    Workshop Session #3, Saturday, August 26th, 2006 - 2:30pm - 3:30pm.

    No Workshops. Session #4, Keynote Speakers followed by dinner. Saturday, August 26th, 2006 - 5:30pm - 8pm

    Workshop Session #5, Sunday, August 27th, 2006 - 10:00am - 11:30am.

    Workshop Session #6, Sunday, August 27th, 2006 - 11:45am - 1pm.

    Workshop Session #7, Sunday, August 27th, 2006 - 2:30pm - 4pm.

    Workshop Session #8, Sunday, August 27th, 2006 - 4:15pm - 6pm.

    Workshop Session #9, Monday, August 28th, 2006 - 10:00am - 11:30am.

    Workshop Session #10, Monday, August 28th, 2006 - 11:45am - 1pm.

    Please keep in mind that you do not have to turn in this form. Just bring your tent to the conference and begin teaching your workshop whenever you want to do so, for as long as you desire to do so, in front of your tent. However, if you turn in this form between now and 2pm on Saturday, August 26th, 2006 you may have your workshops placed on the conference website (usually within 7 days) and it will be distributed in a conference program on the morning of Sunday, August 27th, 2006.

    Also, if you do not want to teach your workshop in front of your tent, or if you do not have a tent, you are not required to use a tent to teach a workshop.

    If you need to use a DVD player or a VCR during your workshop, please give us an exact time when you will teach your workshop so that we can plan accordingly.

    Please keep in mind that there is no fees for conference registration, camping space, meals, childcare and no fees for any workshops or presentations. The AWBC 2006 also does not charge a fee for people or groups to exhibit their items (on a table or on a display blanket) at the International Grassroots And Networking Exhibition . All exhibitors may sell items, barter, trade, accept donations, or simply distribute information.

    Conference Information

    Participants from Kenya, Germany, Mexico, Canada the U.S. and all over the world will come together in harmony in Portland, Oregon in August 2006 to share ideas regarding new visions, changing the world, the cooperative movement, intentional communities and much, much more. Come and be a part of this tremendous occasion. Sisters and Brothers from Intentional communities, Permaculture Homes, co-ops, independent publishing communities, progressive activist groups and other equality seeking groups are invited to volunteer, table, or just fellowship, network and learn with every one from all over the world. August 26-28, 2006, Portland, Oregon. Not only is this a peace conference, but it is a multi-lingual, multi-racial alliance building conference. This conference will create alliances in a manner which transcends the boundaries of the English Language, Race, Class, Gender, Age, Ability, Sexual Orientation, Technology and Endless Theory.
