Hosting the AWBC 2006

The Second Annual AWBC, An International Multiracial Alliance Building Peace Conference

    The Search:

Important: If you are looking for information about the 2005 A World Beyond Capitalism Conference which will take place this year from August 26th through August 28th, 2006, in Portland, Oregon please click here. Or you can click on any of the links in the left or right hand columns because all of those links are about the conference happening this year.

This middle column, which you are currently reading, is for information regarding both, the Second Annual A World Beyond Capitalism Conference (AWBC 2006), which will take place from August 26th through August 28th, 2006 and the following year;s conference, which will take place a year later. We, the organizers of next year's conference, are currently seeking a venue in a community setting rather than the traditional, collegiate or institutional setting. Any community or privately owned land located anywhere within the continental USA is eligible to host the AWBC 2006. We are looking for community settings such as cohousing, ecovillages, intentional communities, organic (non-animal) farms, privately owned land, church property and other community settings.

We are searching for a community setting that has the following characteristics:

  • at least 12 classrooms (or temporarily converted living rooms, community rooms, or other rooms large enough for 70 people each.)
  • tent space for 300-400 campers to set up tents (if you choose to arrange free shuttle or bus service for conference attendants, the tent space can be located away from your community).
  • at least 10 temporary (or permanent) indoor or outdoor shower areas (if you choose to arrange free shuttle or bus service for conference attendants, the shower areas can be located away from your community).
  • your community must be willing to sign a basic contract agreeing to host the AWBC 2006.

If your community chooses to host the AWBC 2006 from August 26th, 2006 through August 28th, 2006...

  • it will benefit your community by personally introducing peaceful, progressive minded minorities and marginalized people to your community from all over the world.
  • it will benefit your community by enabling international publicity for your community
  • it will benefit your community by enabling a wonderful fundraiser opportunity for each and every person in your community. This is because your entire community will be entitled to free and unlimited exhibition and table space to sell or barter your items (which were not made by multinational corporations) during the 3 day event, which includes two days of the international, grassroots exhibition. Other fundraising opportunities for your community are also available.
  • it will benefit your community by offering a historic opportunity for your entire community to help create a better world.

    • with postal mail by writing to the below address

      Institute of Pamela

If you do not have an email address, please include a Self-Addressed Stamped Envelope if you desire a reply.

Or, if you prefer, you can mail or email a toll free telephone number or leave a message authorizing a collect telephone call from an AWBC organizer (please keep in mind most cell phones do not accept collect calls). Please tell us which time zone you are in and when is the best time to call you. When a member of our organizing team calls you, they will announce their title as "AWBC organizers."

When contacting us by any of those methods, if you do not receive a reply within 2 weeks, please contact us again. Our volunteers thoroughly research the backgrounds of all communities that request to host the AWBC, thus not all messages receive a reply as fast as some people desire. However, we will reply to each and every community, farm or land-owner that makes an inquiry about hosting the AWBC 2006. In addition, if we do not choose your community, we will specifically tell you why we did not choose your community so that you will have the opportunity to host the AWBC the following year. The AWBC conference moves to a different area of the continental USA each and every year.

Martin Luther King Jr. call for activism

"The non-violent approach does not immediately change the heart of the oppressor. It first does something to the hearts and souls of those committed to it. It gives them new self-respect; it calls up resources of strength and courage that they did not know they had."

Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
