You are encouraged to bring your ideas and proposals regarding building a new community. We also greatly welcome those who are just curious or interested in living in a community and planning the creation of a community. Thank you. Traditions Café and World Folk Art offers Fair Trade items and is a community supportive and environmentally sustainable, non-corporate business (and they are located only a few blocks from our meeting so you can use your gift certificate right away). These fundraiser raffles enable our meetings to remain free of charge
and never accept or request donations so that people of all social
classes, races and backgrounds can feel welcome at our meetings. They
also encourage people to stick around until the end of the one hour
meeting because you have to be present to win! :)
In the past we have had special multimedia presentations by Evan Schoepke and Michael Kelly from the Eco City Olympia group regarding building a new Ecocity. We have also had:
Presentations by members of Camp Quixote, Olympia's Tent City.
Presentations by the President of the Southwest Neighborhood Association.
Presentations by many other activist and community groups as well!
If you are in an activist or community group and would like to make a 10
minute presentation just show up (and give one starting at the presentation time). We have the room reserved for several hours.
Families and children are always very welcome.
It is a Finger-food (snack food) Potluck style meeting. Someone brought
some homemade soy-coconut milk, homemade Salsa and Hummus and other treats at one of our last meetings which was greatly
appreciated.
This event is free and open to all. As we are an ecovillage group, please bring your own cups, silverware and plates to cut down on disposable plates/utensils. This will also cut down on dishwashing for others.
Bring fruits (grapes, tangerines, oranges, etc), vegetables (cherry tomatoes, etc.,) if you have no idea what to bring. Cookies, chips and hummus are always popular and disappear quickly. If you bring a prepared dish be certain to list ingredients on an index card or small sheet of paper especially if dairy (including butter, eggs, etc.,) or peanuts were used.

We will uphold principles of equality between all members regardless of race, creed, age, ability, income level, gender, sexual preference or sexual orientation.
Our EcoVillage will interact openly with other communities and share what we are doing through possibly having one or more of the following:
-on-site businesses
-educational retreats
-workshops
-library
-lectures

Dear friends,
Hello. We are interested in creating a vibrant new ecovillage. It has 4 rooms available. We are a vibrant community that has been in the forming process for a while and on September 1st we plan to start our community in a beautiful home on the Westside. It took us a whiile to start because we desired to create a community that is financially possible for people of many backgrounds with community income methods.
We are asking for $490 per month, plus utilities for each room. However, because one room (the lovely attic) is a dedicated bed & breakfast, if you help with bed & breakfast duties occassionally, 70% of anything that the B& B makes each month will be reduced off the entire household's collective rent. So, if we manage to rent the b & b room 20 times in one month, rent is free for everyone. If we manage to rent the b & b room 10 times per month, rent is 50% ($245) for that month.
We make decisions by consensus. We enjoy potlucks. We give free hugs (when we feel in the mood, it is not required).
If this interests you please contact us.
Frequently asked questions:
Are pets allowed? No.
What area is it located? Westside Olympia, Washington.
When is the soonest that I can move in? September 1st, 2009.
How much is needed to move in? Unfortunately, we require first month, last month and 50% of the first month’s rent as a deposit refundable.
